YOUNG PEOPLE ARE THE EXPERTS IN THEIR OWN LIVES

  • Your experiences, opinions, ideas, questions and concerns are unique.

  • Young people have a right to be involved in decisions that affect them.

  • When decision makers make decisions that affect young people without talking to young people, they can end up making assumptions and bad decisions.

  • That’s why YACSA exists.

We’re in the middle of a pretty massive project.

The Department of Human Services (Office for Youth) has asked us to consult with LGBTIQ+ young people in SA to:

  • Develop a better understanding of your needs, experiences and ideas and opinions.

  • Identify what services or supports are currently working well.

  • Determine how government and other organisations can continue to improve supports or opportunities going forward.

We’ve talked to LGBTIQ+ social/support groups all over the state, hearing from people about their needs, experiences, ideas and opinions.

We’ve been through Adelaide, and out to Murray Bridge, Mt Barker, Onkaparinga, Whyalla and Mt Gambier.

Here’s a sample of what young people have been telling us.

Stay tuned, because your survey responses will help be used to develop the report.
